Coworking | Community | Collaboration
Our spaces have been carefully designed, taking into account the impact that surroundings have on the work-life integration for our members. We have arranged our spaces in a way that inspires, to allow our members to focus on their ideas and goals.
Community is at the heart of our spaces and the key to their success. From the day we opened our doors, our mission has always been to foster community and bridge the gap between Bansko locals and the digital nomad world.
We believe in striving for work-life balance, and as such we invite our members to be involved in a range of vibrant activities to cut through the working week. From fitness classes, to supper clubs, to charity events - we're focused on providing members with a complete human-centric experience, tailored to their preferences and passions.
Located only a few minutes walk from each other, their central locations offer quick access to the gondola, cobbled streets, picturesque streams and an array of bars and eateries at their doorsteps.
This edition of The Family Workation features Becky and Mark, founder at Altspace, talk about their expat experience in Bansko. Spending a week with us here at Altspace this is what Gonçalo had to say:
"Absolutely loved my experience at Altspaces.
Becky and Mark run the coworking like a small family, you will feel right at home as everyone is kind, interesting and fun.
The coworking space has 2 internet lines, free monitors, free coffee and tea and it’s beautifully design.
My favourite part was that in a small space They have normal tables, standing tables, outdoor sitting and couches which allows me to change and work around the space."
As 550 digital nomads attend the Bansko Nomad Fest this week, this short documentary showcases the nomad fest and asks the question: why has Bansko become popular as a destination for digital nomads or remote workers?
"Kate is a GREAT human being, and a thought-leader of the DigitalNomads/RemoteWork Movement. She will be remembered as a major force of humanity's shift to life centric models."
Kate's BNF2021 eFireside Chat was called - "Best Talk at Bansko Nomad Fest".
Spending a week with us here at Altspace, this is what Kate, Founder of ArtHouse Coliving and The Family Workation, had to say:
"Altspace is a tranquil and well-equipped family run coworking space. It was an absolute pleasure to work from this elegantly decorated space in a beautifully renovated Alpine style lodge with the view of the Bansko creek. Becky and Mark' IT background really comes through in the completeness and thoughtfulness of the tech setup - from extra monitors to different sized private rooms for calls and meetings to having all kinds of accessories available to members. They have also cultivated a vibrant and friendly community through events and activities."

Bansko has been quoted as the most Googled ski resort in the World by Wizz Air Magazine. It's a haven for snow-sports lovers and outdoors enthusiasts and provides super affordable access to skiing and snowboarding in a quaint mountain town.
With its increasing popularity amongst European tourists, it can be busy on arrival and slightly overwhelming working out the best way to enjoy the Winter here if you are planning on staying longer term. We wanted to share some secrets with our remote worker and digital nomad audience on how to get the most out of your Winter experience in Bansko, with 20 years of experience in the town under our belt, let's get down to it!
If you're in Bansko to ski or snowboard then you may have heard about the infamous gondola queue. Now in our humble opinion, you can see this as a problem and join the complainers...or you can join team positive and take a couple of actions to ensure your journey up to the skis zone is a positive one.
Yes, in the school holiday and at the weekend, the gondola queue can be long. However, if you are a true lover of the mountain then just like in any other ski resort, you'll need an early start to beat the queues. Our best advice is to purchase your ski day pass the night before and aim to be at the gondola just before 8. Not an early riser, then why not head to one of the eateries at the top of town and enjoy a nice hot breakfast and hit the slopes a little later? A great day up on the slopes requires a little effort...those willing to put the work in and set the alarm clock will be winning for sure.
2. In town for a month or more? Consider purchasing a skiing/snowboarding season pass or 20 day pass
For those remote workers heading to Bansko for an extended period, a month or the full season then you should consider purchasing a gondola season pass or 20 day pass. If your intention is to hit the slopes as often as possible, these passes can offer significant savings. Plus, you'll feel like a local pro, breezing past the one-day-pass tourists with your season pass swagger.
3. When the slopes are too busy or your legs need a rest, there are tons of other activities in and around Bansko to keep you occupied
Let's face it, sometimes the slopes can get busy, your legs might be tired, or the rain may fall and you want a day off from the snow-sports. Luckily Bansko and the surrounding areas have a wide range of other activities on offer for when you are looking for something different. ATV tours, jeep safaris, snowshoeing, and the biathlon shooting range are all great outdoor activities that are accessible in Bansko itself. If you've hired a car or arrange a taxi then the nearby town of Banya has a great range of hotspring complexes with well maintained spas, and the town of Bachevo offers many a stables for horse-riding. So, even if the mountain doesn't call to you every day, there's no excuse for not getting a little wild in the great outdoors!
4. Bansko is so much more than just "the top of the town"
Looking for a table for dinner in "the top part of town" in the height of the season can sometimes be a nightmare. If you're in a large group or haven't made a reservation then it can be a struggle to get a comfortable table at a nice eatery. However, what most people don't realise is that the gondola area at the top of the town is not the ONLY area of Bansko to explore. Venture a little further and you'll find charming streets lined with traditional mehanas serving mouthwatering Bulgarian cuisine, and quirky bars where you can sip rakia with the locals. Exploring the heart of Bansko is like uncovering a hidden gem; the authentic charm and warmth of the town are sure to win you over.
5. Savouring the whole of the town but don't fancy walking from top to bottom on a cold night?
We'll be honest...Bansko doesn't have Uber! But it does have the TaxiStars app. Once you discover the traditional old town and the delicious food that the local mehanas have on offer, you'll want to go back again and again! However, if you've been on the mountain all day and then been on your feet all evening the last thing you want is to take the long trek back up the hill to home. That's where TaxiStars comes in, your trusty steed for those frosty nights. It's simple, quick, and reliable. So, download the app, and travel like a Bansko boss!
There you have it, folks! Bansko isn't just a ski resort; it's a lifestyle, a community, and an adventure waiting to be had. So, pack your bags, grab your gear, and get ready to dive into the experience of a lifetime. Whether you're shredding the slopes, exploring the town, or soaking in a hot spring, Bansko is the place to be this winter. Don't just take our word for it, come and see for yourself. The mountains are calling, and you must go!
